Do I really need a Real Estate agent to sell my property? The short answer is no, you can sell your place on your own, but the real question is Should you and as you move forward with the process you will start asking yourself, "What was I thinking?"
For starters let me just say that not all real estate agents are created equal. The same for doctors, teachers, plumbers and waitresses. Choosing the licensed professional to represent you is the single most important thing you can do. Shew that’s a lot of pressure.
The right real estate agent can make the difference between“wow what an easy and stress-free process” and “that was a nightmare of epic proportions, I am never buying or selling another house in my entire life” and everything in between.
When choosing an agent don’t go with one because they are a family or friend and call it a day. Interview a few. Ask them how they work to sell houses. Read their reviews. Ask people you know who recently bought or sold a house (and make them be honest and swear you won’t repeat what they say). DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!
You are going to have to work with this person through the process. So once you have gotten all the information and met with several agents, pick the one with which you are most comfortable. Selling your house isa journey not a sprint and you certainly don’t want to feel your colon clench up every time their name pops up on your phone.
Last thought….. it is your house. You are in control. Work with the agent you want that will be a partner with you throughout the process.
